Session 5 took us out on our Turning the Sod Field Trip - A day out turning over fresh ideas with brilliant community groups!
Groups from Rathangan, Johnstown Bridge-Tirmoghan, and Carbury-Derrinturn came together for an inspiring day visiting community‑led projects, and the collaborative energy was fantastic from start to finish.

We were shown around Cloughjordan Ecovillage, Abbeyleix Bog Project and Abbeyleix Community Garden, each one offering a great reminder of the creativity and determination that sit at the heart of successful community‑driven projects, and the local pride they can foster!

The trip opened up thoughtful conversations, fresh perspectives and plenty of ideas that will feed directly into our Turning the Sod sessions as we begin to push forward solutions to our key local challenges. It was also a great chance for groups to connect with each other, share experiences and see what’s possible when communities take the lead. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us; your enthusiasm and curiosity made the day.

We’re especially grateful to our hosts in Cloughjordan, Abbeyleix Bog and Abbeyleix Community Garden for welcoming us, sharing their insights and giving us so much food for thought.
